Cruising in Pennsylvania 7/2/17-7/4/17

My husband, Joe, and I went up to Splash Magic Campground in Northumberland, PA for the weekend to visit our friends, Judie and Brian, at their campsite.   We took our motorcycle and cruised all weekend, exploring the country roads of upstate PA.

After a delicious breakfast, we set out on the road.

We loaded the bikes onto the Millersburg Ferryboat for a trip over the river. It is the last operating ferry on the Susquehanna, and the last "wooden double stern-wheel paddle boat" to be operating in the United States.

Back out on the road, this time for a cruise to Centralia, PA.  Centralia is nearly a ghost town because of a coal mine fire that has been burning underground since 1962.  The town has been condemned by the Commonwealth of PA and no longer has a zip code.

This is Graffiti Road. It used to be Rt. 61.  The road has been shut down and rerouted because of the underground fire. Vandals spray painted the road and now it's a tourist site. The graffiti goes on for miles!!
